Farewell Fall

I enjoy Fall every year.  I love the colors and the cooler temperatures.  This Fall has has seemed extra special and I’ve been doing some thinking on why I feel this way.  There is no doubt that the color has been spectacular this year, at least in the Southeastern USA, but that is only part of the reason.  My usual MO is to be very future focused.  I don’t tend to dwell on the past and I try to be prepared for future eventualities.  These are both good things.  However, I am often so focused on future possibilities, that I don’t enjoy the present.  This past year has kind of changed all of that.  If I had to sum up 2020 in one word it would be “loss”.  One of these losses has been the plans I had for the next 10 years of my life.  This has led me to re-evaluate some things over the past several months.  This and other losses I have experienced this year have helped me live more in the present moment.  This Fall, my focus was on, well, this Fall.  Not winter, next Fall or Fall 10 years from now.  I think that one change is the reason this Fall has been more special for me.

I am thankful that I had more opportunity this year to get outside and photograph this amazingly beautiful time of year.  I’d like to say farewell to Fall 2020 by sharing some of my favorite images of this season.  I am both sad to see it go and happy to look forward to a new year and hopefully better times to come.
